By car it is five miles from the Oyne fork on the main Aberdeen to Inverness road - midway between Inverurie and Huntly. Coming from the north it is only two miles off the A96. The journey time from Aberdeen is only 40 minutes since the dual carriageway to Inverurie opened. It is only 12 miles from Inverurie and Huntly.

It is also possible to take the train to Insch although the service runs on a two-hourly timetable. The village is only a 30-minute journey by car from Aberdeen airport.
